INTRODUCTION

The term built environment refers to aspects of our surroundings that are built by humans, that is, distinguished from the natural environment. This includes not only buildings but also man made spaces between buildings, such as parks, transportation networks, and any infrastructure that supports human activity. This module will expose and establish a symbiotic relationship between natural and built environment components.

The objectives of this module are to encourage student to show, expose, and create awareness the elements of natural and built environment. Furthermore, it will persuade student to question, analyse, and articulate the impact between those two components.

As the outcome, students will be able to recognise, identify, and describe the different characteristics of elements of the natural and built environment. Students will also be able to analyse and evaluate the different development of the built environment by looking at the natural topography, landscape, space, building and infrastructure. Understanding how to communicate ideas through observation and using different media to present information is also one of the skills that studetns will pick up through all the projects. Not only in class, their learning experience and exposure will be extended out of the class, by site visit as this will improve their observational skills in a more interesting way.
